My spouse is half Irish – with the dark hair and blue-green eyes that is sooo my type – to my tiny drop of Irish, but we both celebrate. Heck, both our kids have an Irish first or middle name!

A little history and traditions:

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, and the namesake for the holiday on the day he died. While this holiday was originally just a Saint’s day about the Catholic man who converted the Celts to Christianity a millennium ago, Americans of Irish descent have made it into a celebration of past traditions. We wear green to represent one of Ireland’s nickname as the Emerald Isle, the national flag, and the lucky four-leaf clover.🍀

Today I’ll slow-cook corned beef with potatoes and veggies, continuing the traditional meal our parents always made us. Of course, there will also be alcoholic drinks, but neither of us are fans of Guinness! 🧚‍♂️My mom always made our milk green and told us the Leprechauns visited, so sometimes I do that for my kids as well. The point is to celebrate old traditions and make new ones in the spirit of fun and family.
